Using a Rabbit Corkscrew Correctly

Rabbit corkscrew is one of the most popular and easiest to use wine opener. Still, some people complain about their durability or efficiency, when they shouldn’t unless if the device is mishandled is some way. Therefore, it is very important to read these simple instructions before you use your rabbit corkscrew to open your first wine bottle.

- First off, make sure the seal of the bottle, if any is present, is broken and the protective foil is removed. If you use the rabbit corkscrew to penetrate the foil as well, it will not be as efficient and the entire cork pulling process will become difficult. It is best and recommended to remove the foil completely prior to opening the bottle.

- Place the rabbit corkscrew on top of the bottle. There are two small pins on each side of the bottle’s neck at this point. Adjust the handles so that the pins beneath them are tight on the bottle, and then start managing the handles so that the cork is firmly grabbed by the opener.

- Once the rabbit corkscrew is securely connected to the wine cork, start squeezing on the opener. It will easily pull out the cork. Do not try and pull it out with force. This type of device does not work that way. All you need to do is manage the handles and the bottle will be opened by itself.

- After a couple of hundred openings, the rabbit corkscrew might need a revision. Make sure every component is in place, and if possible, adjust their position. If something falls out of place or it’s loosened, then the efficiency of the device will be seriously decreased. It is important to try and fix any small problem as it appears, otherwise it might get worse and much harder to repair.
